Tips when showing your home

Showing Your Home

    • Three's a crowd. Whenever possible, it's smart for you to be away from the home during a showing. If you must be home when your property is shown, go outside or if that it not possible, avoid being the same room with the agent and the buyer. Please don't follow the agent around. If you do, the prospect will feel like an intruder and will hurry through the house. Also, keep the children and pets in the background and out of the way.

    • Turn off the TV!  it's a distraction. Soft music, however, is a good idea. Let the buyer and agent talk free of disturbances.

    • "Love me, love my pet," does not apply in home selling! Keep pets out of the way, under control, and preferably out of the house. Air freshener is often advisable, particularly if the house has been closed up for some time. Also, please empty litter boxes.

    • Never apologize for the appearance of your home. What you consider a negative, the buyer may not even notice.

    • Don't discuss price, terms, possession or other factors with the buyers. Let your agent handle any negotiation.

    • And last but not least: For your own safety, as well as to protect your confidentiality, do NOT allow anyone to see your home without an appointment through our office.
